Issa Rae Announced as Unrivaled Investor

MIAMI (October 5, 2026) — Today, Unrivaled announced award-winning actor, producer and entrepreneur Issa Rae as an investor in the league. Rae’s investment came as part of the league’s oversubscribed Series C fundraise, announced in August, which propelled the league to a $650 million valuation.

“Unrivaled speaks to me and everyone who wants to set new standards, and what the league has done and continues to do for the best women’s basketball players in the world is something I’m proud to invest in,” said Rae. “After experiencing Unrivaled firsthand last season, it was clear that they’re building something special. I look forward to being part of the league’s growth and success to come.”

Rae – the inaugural Variety Entertainment Entrepreneur of the Year award-winner – has expanded her portfolio in recent years through investments across sports and entertainment, with Unrivaled serving as her first league-wide investment. She also founded HOORAE Media, an umbrella company spanning film, TV, marketing and the Raedio record label, and is a twice-named TIME 100 honoree.

Rae is the latest to invest in the rapidly growing league that is redefining the model for professional sports. Additional investors to-date include, but are not limited to, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Build Your Legacy Ventures, Carmelo Anthony, Geno Auriemma, the Berman Family, Stephen Curry, Coco Gauff, Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss, Jenny Just, Alex Morgan and Trybe Ventures, Dawn Staley, Wanda and Alex Sykes, Gary Vaynerchuk, JuJu Watkins, Trae Young, and Ten Pillars Sports Fund, the lead investor in the league’s Series C.

Unrivaled will tip off its third season this winter, with the complete schedule, including ticket information, set to be announced in the fall.
