Laces BC Rolls to Third Straight Win, Defeats Hive BC 76–61

MIAMI (Feb. 17, 2026) — Brittney Sykes recorded her fifth 20-point game of the year with 27 points for Laces BC as they defeated Hive BC 76-61. The win marked the Laces’ third straight, improving their record to 9-2 while the Hive fell to 3-8,
“She was hunting the rim relentlessly,” Laces BC head coach Andrew Wade said of Sykes. “That’s when she’s at her best because it just opens up the rest of her game.”
Sykes is leading the Laces with an average of 19.6 points per game. She credited her teammates for boosting her confidence and helping her game flourish.
“I think it’s just a collective thing,” Sykes said. “Your confidence is always key, but the confidence doesn’t go anywhere if you don’t feel the belief and reassurance from your teammates.”
The Hive were led by Sonia Citron’s 15 points and career-high seven assists. Kelsey Mitchell added 13 and Natisha Hiedeman contributed 12 off the bench.
Azurá Stevens, recently traded to the Hive from Rose BC, finished with nine points and seven rebounds in her Hive debut.
Stevens noted that she was impressed by the Hive’s energy even before joining the club.
“I could tell when I was on the Rose the energy that they have and the freeness that they play with,” Stevens said. “I was really excited to be joining a squad like that.”
Monique Billings scored the first seven points for the Hive, while Sykes and Jackie Young combined for 15 Laces points in the opening frame. The Laces outscored the Hive 12-4 inside the paint, taking a 21-17 lead after one.
Sykes scored the Laces’ first eight points of the second, sparking a 12-2 run. She and Alyssa Thomas combined for 16 of the Laces’ 23 second-quarter points, giving them a 44-34 lead at halftime. Sykes finished with a career-high 19 first-half points as the Laces shot 60% from the field. Natisha Hiedeman and Kelsey Mitchell combined for 11 of the Hive’s 17 in the period.
The Hive got going in the third, led by 10 points from Sonia Citron. They outscored the Laces 22-21 in the period, trimming the deficit to nine entering the fourth. The Hive shot 80% in the third, their highest shooting percentage in any quarter this season.
Laces BC closed the game with a 7-0 run in the fourth, capped by a 3-pointer from Young to secure the victory. Young finished with 15 points while Thomas recorded her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
