MIAMI (Jan. 26, 2026) — Four Hive BC players scored in double figures as Hive BC edged Lunar Owls BC, 74-71 to earn its second win of the season and improve to 2-5 as the Lunar Owls fall to 1-6.

“We as a group, on the floor and off the floor, have kind of encountered our own little family,” Hive guard Kelsey Mitchell said. “We all stand together and stick together, win or lose.”

Hive BC clung to its 4-point lead entering the final frame, but Aaliyah Edwards and Marina Mabrey erased the deficit, handing the Lunar Owls a 1-point lead. The Lunar Owls turned the ball over while being just a possession away from the target score, allowing Mitchell to steal it and go coast-to-coast for the game-winning layup.

Mitchell finished with 17 points, four assists and two steals. Natisha Hiedeman led Hive with 20 points off the bench as Monique Billings recorded 16 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, marking her third double-double in the last four games.

Hive head coach Rena Wakama praised her club’s balanced scoring effort.

“It’s the difference between winning and losing,” Wakama said. “I think the best teams are the teams that can go to anybody at any time.”

The Lunar Owls jumped to a 10-3 lead to start the game behind Edwards and Mabrey. The Hive responded with a 15-7 surge, capped by a Mitchell 3-pointer that gave the Hive its first lead of the game. The basket also pushed Mitchell past 100 career points. Sonia Citron and Mitchell combined for 20 of the Hive’s first half points.

Edwards and Mabrey combined for the first 11 points of the third quarter as the Lunar Owls built a 51-45 lead, stretching it to double figures before the Hive mounted a comeback behind Hiedeman, who drilled three consecutive 3-pointers in less than a minute.

Edwards posted an 18-point, 14-rebound double-double, her sixth double-double of the season for the Lunar Owls. Diggins tied her career-high with 27 points and surpassed 300 career points.

“She played confident, gritty, and got to her spot,” Edwards said of Diggins. “It’s a great accomplishment for her.”
