Laces BC Clinches First Spot in Unrivaled Playoffs with 74-70 Win Over Lunar Owls BC

MIAMI (Feb. 6, 2026) — Laces BC became the first club to clinch a spot in the 2026 Unrivaled Playoffs presented by Samsung Galaxy, defeating Lunar Owls BC 74-70. The Laces improve to 8-2 on the season as the Lunar Owls fall to 2-8 overall, dropping their second straight game.
“Really proud of the group,” Laces head coach Andrew Wade said. “Happy that we clinched, but we’re not done yet.”
All five Laces players scored in double figures, led by 22 points from Brittney Sykes to mark her fourth game this season with at least 20 points. Naz Hillmon and Maddy Siegrist combined for 29 bench points for the Laces, outscoring the Lunar Owls bench by 15 on the night. Hillmon tallied her third double-double of the season with a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Hillmon spoke about how naturally she has fit into her role on the Laces BC roster.
“It doesn’t feel like a job,” Hillmon said. “It feels like a bunch of your friends coming together and doing something for a greater good, so it’s just been a great experience for me.”
The Laces opened the game on a 14-2 run before the Lunar Owls responded with an 8-2 run, sparked by back-to-back threes from Rachel Banham. Jackie Young scored seven points for the Laces in the first quarter as they took a 26-15 lead after one.
Skylar Diggins ignited a 14-4 run in the second for the Lunar Owls, knocking down consecutive threes to trim the deficit to single digits. The Laces answered with a 7-0 run to end the second quarter to take a 45-38 lead at halftime.
Aaliyah Edwards then scored 12 of the Lunar Owls’ 22 third-quarter points, making it a one-possession game heading into the fourth as they trailed the Laces 63-60.
The Lunar Owls used a 6-2 run in the final quarter to get within as close as two. In the game’s final possession, Sykes drew a foul and converted the game-winning free throw to help Laces punch their ticket to the Unrivaled playoffs.
Edwards led the Lunar Owls with a game-high 28 points and 18 rebounds, marking her fourth straight double-double and seventh of the season to tie the league record for consecutive double-doubles.
Aziaha James, who joined the Lunar Owls for Friday’s game from the player development pool, added nine points off the bench in her debut—the most points scored in a game by a development player this season.
“She was phenomenal,” Lunar Owls head coach DJ Sackmann said. “I’m super proud of her, and I hope she’s proud of herself because that was a great performance.”
