Bench Production Fuels Mist BC Past Hive BC, 82–69

MIAMI (Jan. 31, 2026) — Arike Ogunbowale and Alanna Smith combined for 31 points off the bench as Mist BC ran away with an 82-69 win over Hive BC on Saturday night, improving to 6-2 on the season as Hive BC falls to 2-6. The Mist’s supporting cast outscored the Hive’s 40-13 for the afternoon.
“Every moment there’s an opportunity to be competitive, but also an opportunity to have fun,” Mist BC captain Breanna Stewart said. “What I’m most proud of with our Mist group is the fact that we have the ability to do both.”
Stewart finished with a club-high 19 points for the Mist, while Allisha Gray added 17 points and two assists. Ogunbowale tallied 18 points, six rebounds and four assists as Smith posted a career-high 13 points and career-best 11 rebounds for her first career double-double.
“She was great tonight,” Mist head coach Zach O’Brien said of Smith’s performance. “It’s good to see her get a little rhythm.”
Stewart set the tone early, scoring the Mist’s first four points as the club opened on a 12-4 run. Ogunbowale and Smith combined for 13 bench points in the first, while the Mist held the Hive to just four makes from the floor.
Kelsey Mitchell sparked a response for the Hive, opening the second quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers. She scored the Hive’s first 11 points of the period and finished the quarter with 16 points, including four made 3’s. Mitchell’s 20 first-half points marked the highest-scoring half of her career.
Li Yueru provided another boost off the bench for the Mist with seven points. Ogunbowale, Smith and Yueru combined for 24 first-half points as the Mist carried a 48-38 lead into halftime.
After being held to just 2 points in the first half, Sonia Citron found her rhythm to open the third, scoring eight straight points to pull Hive BC within seven.
“I think I just stayed positive and tried not to get into my head,” Citron said. I knew there was a whole other half to play.”
Mitchell and Monique Billings added five points apiece as Hive shot 50% from the field in the third, but Gray countered with 10 points to keep the Mist in control. Mist led 70-58 entering the fourth, with the 82-point target score within reach.
Mist BC pushed its lead to as many as 14 in the final period, with Ogunbowale and Smith combining for 10 more points off the bench. Ogunbowale sealed the win with a layup at the rim—her second game-winner of the season.
