Thomas’ Career Night Sends Laces BC Atop the Standings with Win Over Mist BC

MIAMI (Feb. 2, 2026) — In a showdown between two of Unrivaled’s top clubs, a career night from Alyssa Thomas made the difference. Laces BC pulled away late to defeat Mist BC 67-62, taking sole possession of first place in the standings. Thomas totaled a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds to improve Laces BC to 7-2 on the season. Mist BC falls to 6-3 with the result.

“I like to win,” Thomas said. “I like a competitive atmosphere, and the fourth quarter, it gets really tight, it gets very competitive—the key is just doing what you do. The whole game, we kind of found what we wanted to do, how we wanted to play, and it's just about taking our time and manipulating the game.”

Thomas tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds in the first half alone, becoming the sixth player in league history to record a double-double in the first half.

The Laces defense set the tone early, holding the Mist to just eight points in the first while opening the game with an 11-2 run. Alanna Smith chipped in six points off the bench for the Mist, going 3-of-3 from the floor as the rest of her club went 0-of-13.

“We’ve got players who love to compete and defend,” Laces head coach Andrew Wade said. “That just generates easy offense.”

The Mist found momentum behind Arike Ogunbowale, who notched the highest-scoring third quarter of her career with 12 points, going 3-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-3 from deep to fuel a 16-4 Mist run, cutting the deficit to four points.

Naz Hillmon scored the Laces' first six points of the final frame to push the lead to 61-57. Allisha Gray drilled a triple to pull the Mist within one, but Young scored the game-winning basket, moving the Laces to 7-2 on the season. Young finished with 16 points and four assists on the night.

Ogunbowale led the Mist with 17 points and a career-high four steals off the bench. Smith followed with 11 points and eight rebounds, marking her second straight double-digit scoring effort.

“I don't think we have to do anything different,” Mist BC head coach Zach O’Brien emphasized. “We don't have to reinvent the wheel. It's just coming out and avoiding a slow start like we had today, and just making those little adjustments to get back to our identity.”
