Hive BC Completes Largest Comeback in Unrivaled History, Defeats Breeze BC 70-68

MIAMI (Feb. 6, 2026) — Hive BC put together its highest-scoring quarter ever with 27 points in third, battling back from a 15-point deficit to defeat Breeze BC and complete the largest comeback in league history. The win improves the Hive to 3-7, snapping a two-game losing streak as the Breeze fall to 5-5.

“I’m super proud,” Hive BC head coach Rena Wakama said. “I’ve got a group of players that have no quit in them.”

Kelsey Mitchell led the Hive with 22 points, marking her third 20-point game of the season. Monique Billings added 15 points and career-high 17 rebounds, marking her fourth straight double-double to tie the league record for consecutive double-doubles.

The Hive are now 3-1 this season in games decided by three points or less.

“When you’ve been challenged in every way, every realm, it’s a testament to not giving up,” Mitchell said. “It’s a mentality group that our Hive group has built.”

Dominique Malonga and Rickea Jackson combined for the Breeze’s first 11 points of the game. Mitchell kept the Hive in it early on, tying her career high for most points in the first quarter, scoring 11.

An 11-0 run by the Breeze in the second quarter helped them gain a 41-29 lead with 1:11 left in the period. Kate Martin scored 11 first-half points off the bench as the Breeze took a 43-31 lead into halftime.

The Hive found its momentum in the third, going on a 14-0 run to pull within one. Both clubs exchanged baskets the remainder of the period, with Bueckers scoring 13 straight points to close the quarter for the Breeze. All Hive players scored in the third, totaling 27 points, the most in a single quarter in club history. The Hive trailed Breeze 59-58 heading into the final frame.

Mitchell opened the fourth with a layup, giving the Hive their first lead since the 6:52 mark of the second quarter. The final period featured four ties and three lead changes before Sonia Citron finished at the rim for her first career game-winner, ending the night with 17 points.

Breeze BC was led by Bueckers, who scored a game-high 28 points. Jackson followed with a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double. Bueckers has now scored 20 or more points in seven straight games.

“Paige plays the right way,” Breeze head coach Noelle Quinn said. “I’ve been encouraging her to attack first, and that opens up everything.”
