MIAMI (Jan. 16, 2026) — Hive BC ran away with its first victory of the 2026 season, snapping a three-game Rose BC win streak in an action-packed night to hand the reigning champions their first loss of the 2026 Unrivaled season.

“It’s a roller coaster ride, I think there’s a lot that goes into trying to be a good Unrivaled team here in this league when you’re playing against the best of the best every night,” Hive BC guard Kelsey Mitchell said.

The Hive’s win featured a balanced scoring effort, with five of its six players reaching double figures, led by Mitchell’s season-high 24 points. Sonia Citron and Saniya Rivers added 14 points each as Monique Billings followed with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.

“We were determined to play well and beat this team,” Hive head coach Rena Wakama said.

The first quarter featured eight lead changes and five ties. The score remained a one possession game until the midway point of the second when a Rivers 3-pointer gave the Hive a 29-24 lead. Hive BC was able to build its cushion in the following minutes, taking a 44-35 advantage into halftime.

A 16-point lead by the Hive in the opening minutes of the third was trimmed to 12 by the end of the period, giving them a 66-54 edge and creating a 78-point target score heading into the fourth.

Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper made a pair of back-to-back triples to trim the Hive’s lead to 76-75 in the fourth. Moments later, a driving layup by Mitchell sealed the deal for the Hive’s first victory of the Unrivaled season.

Gray, who finished the night with 36 points, six three-pointers and seven assists, became the first player in Unrivaled history to reach 400 career points and 100 career assists. Gray is currently averaging a league-best 32.8 points per game and is top five in assists per game (6.0) through four Unrivaled games this season.

“That’s no surprise, that’s just what she does, that’s the player she is, and she’s just the ultimate competitor,” Rose head coach Nola Henry said of Gray.
